Boulevard Blue Closes Doors

November 3, 2009

Sadly another popular Cleveland restaurant has ceased operations.  Boulevard Blue on Larchmere Blvd, on Cleveland’s east side near Shaker Square closed At the end of business Saturday night.

The popular dining spot was opened originally by restaurateur Andy Himmel.  Boulevard Blue became known for an innovative menu, an active bar, and a place to enjoy some of the city’s finest live jazz and blues.  About a year ago Himmel, to able to focus on his successful Latin restaurant Paladar in Woodmere,  sold Boulevard Blue to chef Kurt Steeber.

Our sources tell us, to look for another restaurant to open in Boulevard Blue’s former location in the near future.

***UPDATE***  We’re hearing an unconfirmed rumor that Bodega on Coventry’s owner Said Ouaddaadaa is the guy who is going to open in the Boulevard Blue space.  The spot will be renamed Black and Blue and by converted to a steakhouse.  This is as we said, unconfirmed, and the deal is not complete, but from a pretty good source.
